The New School offers a comprehensive culinary arts program including courses in cooking and baking, wine appreciation, and career training. More than 100 different courses are offered by professionals representing a wide range of culinary experience and cuisines. Classes are offered seven days a week during morning, afternoon, and evening hours.

Where Classes Meet Unless otherwise noted, cooking and baking classes meet at The Inn on 23rd, 131 West 23rd St. (between Sixth & Seventh Avenues); wine classes meet at 203 East 29th St. (between Second & Third Avenues), and business courses meet at The New School (room assignments posted at 66 West 12th St. lobby). Kitchen Assistant Program Opportunities are available for selected individuals to work with and learn from our instructors by serving as kitchen assistants in cooking and baking classes. Selection of kitchen assistants is at the discretion of the Culinary Center of New York. An interview is required. Work/Study Program Each term there are opportunities for selected students to attend a limited number of Culinary Arts courses with tuition and materials fees waived in exchange for administrative work at the Culinary Center of New York. Goldberg, Executive Director of the Culinary Arts Program, established this scholarship fund to honor the great restaurants and chefs of New York. The fund continues to be supported by our Behind the Scenes at the Great Restaurants of New York courses. Scholarships are awarded for individual Professional-Level Instruction courses. Applicants are selected for awards based on motivation, promise of achievement, and financial need. The number of scholarships awarded each year may vary. Application should be made to the Scholarship Committee, New School Culinary Arts, 30 West 26th St., 12th floor, New York, NY 10010. Please specify the academic term and course for which you are applying. Contributions to these Scholarship Funds are gratefully accepted, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. > top |
